Supporting wellness as we switch up our routines + rituals

Hi Friends!

I KNOW, we technically have 5 weeks left of summer but many of us are winding down and getting ready to return to school or head there for the first time with our kiddos. Many of us are caregivers or teachers and we have dirty little hands trying to get into our mouths allll the time (it’s gross but you know it’s true.)

This Friday, I wanted to share some tips for whole body wellness as our

summer rituals get misaligned and at times need to shift due to the change of seasons or schedules.

Balanced Nourishment

Focus on a balanced plate of veggies, protein and carbs and “eat the rainbow” to ensure you’re getting a variety of nutrients!

If you enjoy meal prepping or even menu planning (my fave), go for it and stick to the same guidelines as above. I like to keep cooked quinoa and rice on hand to add to salads or as sides for dinner, as well as grilled chicken. I don’t follow a ton of bloggers but, I love How Sweet Eats!

Nourish your body. Many of us simply don’t eat enough. We’re running around, feeding kids, feeding kids again, then…AGAIN. I’m not saying you should calorie count, I’m quite against that idea but instead of skipping breakfast (if you think you’re not hungry, get your cortisol levels checked –could be why) have something protein rich and veggie forward. I love starting my day with eggs, toast, avocado, greens or even roasted veggies (you can prep these ahead) in a breakfast bowl with quinoa + eggs. I also have a protein shake in the morning either before or after breakfast especially if I go to a barre class. If you feel like you’re not eating enough, it would be a delicious way to get those extra nutrients in. My favorites are the coffee and chocolate options!

Movement

Move your body each day in a way that feels good for you! Movement looks and feels different for each of us. I recommend practicing simple movement outside for a double boost of dopamine and serotonin. Maybe that means you’re walking to a park with your kids or working on your garden. Maybe it’s strength training (hello Pure Barre) or a run on your favorite trail, pick something that feels good for. Movement promotes wellness of our body + mind and it’s SO important we practice it each day.

Nature Immersion

Get outside for at least 20 minutes each day with no technology. Bring a journal to write or draw reflections from your time spent outside or sit and “just be.” We call this a “sit spot” and we teach more about it in my Nature-Based Wellness program.

Mind Health

Getting enough sleep, listening to your body when it needs to rest and also maintaining the boundaries you’ve set with people and experiences in your life that need them.

If you see a therapist regularly, continue to go.

Practice breathwork with Halie Elliot.

Again, get outside each day; it will boost happiness within FIVE minutes of being outside.

Gut Health

Drink your greens. I can’t say it enough, Arbonne’s greens have been a game changer for my gut health. FRIENDS, I was drinking 3-4 coffees a day and my digestive system was totally out of whack. I knew it but didn’t want to give up my coffee or even admit it to myself. A gut with a higher level of microbiota diversity obviously balances our digestive systems including reduced bloating but it can also improve overall physical and mental wellness, reduce inflammation and even improve SKIN health and so much more! This is my number one favorite product, and I could not recommend it higher!

In addition to greens, nourishing our bodies with the guidelines above is so important. You can drink the greens but if you’re not nourishing your body with balanced plates, you won’t see the full benefits.
